Outfit

It's hard to believe I haven't posted this dress on my blog before; it's had many adventures with me and is certainly one of the best. Orange is a colour Ive come to love in recent times despite it being the one colour I'd never wear for years. I now have two orange dresses in my collection; the other one is the polka dot dress which I posted here. The white floral lace detailing was a good way to balance out the orange given that it was my first orange piece in many years. As you can see, my emerald glitter heels are making an appearance again; they are more versatile than one might initially think. I'm going to make them make with as many outfits as possible. The glitter sparkly hair bow was purchased from a little store near where I work. I go there so often that I'm on pretty familiar terms with the couple that work there. I have a bit of a love for Babushka Dolls and have gone back for four sets now. I always say it's lucky there aren't many good shops where I work or my spending could get me into a lot of trouble. The Forever New bag is a recent purchase from the sales. It's a truly amazing bag and even has leopard print lining. It's also really functional because the storage component at the front is also replicated at the back. It's also a very stylish and beautiful bag.

I fear you're all going to hate me after this post but I truly dislike Christmas. For many years I haven't been a big fan and thought it was overrated. But these days I hate it even more because it reminds me of all the aspects of my life that I miss and that makes me sad. Like when I was a child when the family was much closer and before I knew what being depressed felt like. I miss the family that are no longer with us that used to make that time of year so special. I just miss feeling happy. On another note, this year I lost one of my greatest support networks in my life. I would say it's their fault, they would say it's mine but the details aren't relevant for now. It hurts to no longer have a relationship with what used to be such a huge part of my life. This has absolutely destroyed me and made me feel more worthless than ever before. There's a significant part of my heart which breaks every single day. I fear Christmas and the holidays will just be a painful reminder of that. This isn't to say I have no one in my life because that certainly isn't true. I'm sure there are people in much worse situations that make the best of it. But I am never able to as the feelings of negativity get me every single time.

Tia! I love this outfit. The orange and the blue are so complementary to one another, so good job with that there. I agree that orange can be such a difficult color to not only find but wear. It's so much easier to pick a pretty pick, but I applaud you for pulling off this bright shade of orange so well! Have a fantastic week. :)

Don't you look pretty!!!
I love this outfit! You look super pretty in it. Orange IS a difficult colour (I recently wore an orange dress which I think you commented on) but it's very cheery. I am so sorry (for you) that you feel that way about Christmas- I truly love it and enjoy it so much- I wish there was a way I could help you to enjoy and love it more.

You're not the only one that feels that way- even if it might feel so. Many people feel depressed and blue at this time of year ( many of them don't experience those feeling as a few who are really depressed but they still feel down). I can't say I hate Christmas, but since I don't celebrate it with my family (because I live some place else) it is not the same as it used to be...and maybe it is not the same as it was because I'm not a kid anymore.

Just don't feel bad about not liking Christmas, hate is as much as you like and just organize your time in some way you find fit...with people you love and not thinking as much about those you lost.

You do look fantastic...and it's a shame we didn't see this orange dress before...and at the same time maybe it is better because with those glittery heels that dress shines even brighter....

(((hugs))) Oh Imogen! You are certainly entitled to feel however you want to feel about Christmas and the holidays. I hope that things change soon that will help you change your mind.

PS You look lovely in orange:)

Imogen... first, you look beautiful, I love the orange on you...

and second most importantly, I truly know how you feel... this last year has been the most difficult year I have dealt with and honestly if it had not been for Valentina, I would not have celebrated Christmas either. Thankfully I have her so that I have to find a way to be cheerful for her... it's not easy.

It is so sad to lose someone that is such a huge part of your life, for me it was so sudden with no real explanation, I do understand, completely... please do not ever hesitate to message me if you need to talk. My email is tweety_pie_36@hotmail.com

I have missed you, I am so glad to be back blogging and I am so thrilled my exam is over and done with.. no more school for me for a few months, I need a little break..

Take care of yourself, I have been thinking of you xox

This can be a depressing time for many people. You're not alone. I've gone through that feeling myself in the past. It's not a good feeling. You may not understand it now, but one day God is going to show you why you were not suppose to be connected to that person. Often we think we should, but he can see further. Have trust and faith that this is the way it should be. Have HOPE that your situation will change. Enjoy each day and the blessings you do have. It will be ok :)Don't despair.

Very pretty dress - I like the white lace over the top part. The shoes are fabulous - I remember when I could wear heels that high!

I dislike the obligations that Christmas creates; I'm not close with my family, I prefer to be with my husband and cat - I'm just not into the whole rah rah seasonal thing. You aren't alone in that, at least.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog - I do appreciate it.

Oh I hope you manage to have a lovely christmas this year Imogen!

You can strike out on your own! While you do have the happy memories of the past Christmasses, you can make your own memories and your own traditions! You can feel close to those you miss by doing things with them in mind, or forget about the hurt by doing something completely new! I do hope you have a lovely Christmas - you definitely have the kind of wardrobe that would make dressing up for Christmas a lot of fun, so I hope you enjoy doing that :)

The dress is so gorgeous! I love how the shoes dont match it at all, but work with the outfit really well nevertheless.

I'm sorry ot hear that Christmas is not a happy time for you anymore, but I think you can do something about it! I know hat you mean about people drifting apart - my Christmas has also changed because of peopel moving away and th elderly in my family departing forever, but at the same time there are also new people coming in your life who make the time special in another way. Of course I don't know about your situation, but there must be something you can do. If you really need a big change not to be reminded of the past, you can always travel to a country that doesn't celebrate Christmas, or spend the time volunteering in an animal shelter or elderly nursing home, or participate in a secret Santa and make new friends or do whatever you want to do!

You look wonderful and I love your shoes...glitter :))) I don't like Christmas in regards to the commercialism of it, it's ruined, people are mean and everything is expensive. People become even more greedy. I just prefer to celebrate the good things about it, I stay away from stores and shop online, so I don't get brought down by all of that craziness. I really love those shoes :)))) xx

Oh Imogen, I am so sorry that you're feeling down. I know it is very hard to look at the positive side of things when you're sad but I hope you try. Concentrate on everything that makes you smile regardless how small and unimportant it is, be it a flower or a smell, just try to focus on the good. Hopefully you'll feel better soon. Hugs! xx

I'm sorry to hear you're dreading this time of year! I went through a really bad breakup a few years ago, and blogging was the thing that got me out of the bed in the morning. It was the only reason I showered or wore nice clothes. Keep blogging, because you have an awesome network of people here!

Izzy said...

aww Imogen I don't know what happened, but I hope next year will be better for you and keep the good relationships you have now and building more in the future. Don't worry I 'm not really a big fan of Christmas either but kind of in a different way- Christmas never had happy memories for me so I don't really have any reason to enjoy it. Hope you have a wonderful holiday anyway and enjoy the break. This dress is really beautiful on you- I love the lace overlay on the top part of the dress. hope you're having a great week so far! :)

I love the dress, it is such a pretty colour and it clashes beautifully with the sparkly green shoes.
I really think you need to try some counselling, mainly Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. It helps to change the way you think, so you dont get into a cycle of neativity.

I'm feeling similarly re Christmas but for a different reason.

I do not have a single person around me who likes Christmas. I want to love it and enjoy it, but these people depress me about it so much, the last 3 Christmasses I have worked 8 hour days on Christmas Day so my workmates who do have people who love Christmas could enjoy it without having to work.

Plus, it was over $50 an hour public holiday pay so that was an awesome side benefit.

I would just once like to have a Christmas where people enjoy themselves instead of treat it like a chore.

We were at the shops today and I have officially decided that The Other Half cannot go shopping with me again until Christmas is over, otherwise there is every chance I will pick up a nearby, beautifully decorated Christmas tree, and whack him with it until he agrees to put a smile back on his face, or alternatively I might wrap him in Christmas lights while screaming Cheer the ffffff up!

So, the sooner it is over, the less chance of me deading people with Christmas items. :)

Hello again, here I am again back to the blogosphere, just don't know for how long :) I always say it's for good, and then I travel again for months, which makes blogging and commenting difficult! But let me say you look lovely as usual and I am glad to see you again! Orange is not a color that I can say I have many pieces, but on you it looks great! And the shoes, wow! I feel the same as you about Christmas... and I am sorry someone left your life... it happens, unfortunately... yes, I used to be happy, but my parents passed away within a couple of months a few years ago - so we just came from one horrendous moment and in a few weeks had another again. Then Christmas ended for me :( I hope you are fine and that you think of 2015 - it will soon came and we wll have many months before the next Christmas! Denisesplanet.com
