Outfit

Hi everyone! It feels like a very long time since I last posted an outfit. I've been very unlucky with technology lately; my camera charger is lost and my computer screen is cracked so it is been very difficult to blog. Also, I have been incredibly busy for the last number of months. Without a doubt this has been the most stressful time of my whole life. There is just too much happening at once; preparing for my weddding, finishing my law degree, finding a place to live and dealing with some personal issues from the past. I'm supposed to be finding a job too but that's unfortunately become a low priority right now. I'm a very anxious person to start with so all this stress hasn't really helped my situation. I have a lot of support from family which is great; I don't know what I'd do without them but I'm still finding it hard. I've just have to make sure I don't lose sight of the bigger picture, even when I feel overwhelmed and I want to give up on myself; one day my life will get better. So I apologise if I have a lower presence in the blogsphere for the next couple of months. I still love you all and your support means so much!

Despite my current situation, dressing up is one of the few things that makes me happy; whenever I have a bad day the power of a pretty dress rarely ceases to amaze me. I know I've said this a lot but this is definitely one of my favourite dresses. I've worn it a few times now, most recently to a family event on Saturday night. It combines two of my favourite elements of fashion- lace and peter pan collar! I will never understand the absence of peter pan collars in the shops; I seem to only find them in the kids section. So when I see one I usually snap it up immediately. I think this dress is totally reflective of my style since it is so girly. I love it! I thought it was very lucky that my shoes matched so well. I've mentioned a few times that, out of my entire shoe collection, these are undoiubtdely my favourite. It's such a coincidence that the dress and shoes are the exact same colours and of very similar pattern. I like adding touches of red to give it a vintage feel. I tried to achieve this with red lipstick and red nails; maybe a red belt could be a consideration for next time.

Alannah Hill Spring Collection

I'm always very excited by a new collection from Alannah Hill; 'The Last Doll Standing' for Spring 2012 certainly meets all my expectations. This collection reminds me so much of my wedding. Without giving too much away at this stage, the bird cage veil, white Alannah Hill dresses and extremely large white feathers, will make an appearance. I wish I could buy some of these clothes but I have no money!

This is one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen. I am always drawn to red dresses and the combination of lace makes me love it that much more.

Remix 001

I've seen this idea on a couple of blogs before and I thought I'd love to create my own series of remix posts where I show you all the different ways I've styled an item. I've wanted to start this for a long time but I was waiting until I built up at least four different outfit posts with the same item; I know I'm not very creative with my styling and I never use my wardrobe to its full potential, so these posts may not be too frequent for the time being. I thought it would be appropriate to start with my red Alannah Hill cardigan which I bought at the beginning of the year. It has been a winter staple and the sort of item I can always rely on when I dont know what to wear.It is so versatile and I could probably wear it with almost every skirt, pair of jeans and dress in my wardrobe. I love the little detailing with the ruffles and the sparkly buttons. I adore how bright and vibrant it is; it really makes an outfit stand out. I spent a lot of money on this cardigan; it is one of the more expensive Alannah Hill items I've ever bought so it's great that I've had so much use out of it.

Item of the Week 024/ My New Favourite Top

I bought this top earlier in the week and not only is it my favourite top at the moment, it is also my favourite top I have ever owned in my whole life. I am always attracted to bows and stripes so it combines two of the best aspects. It wasn't until I actually bought the top and wore it for the first time yesterday that I realised just how big the bow is; it's a real feature and makes such a statement. I also love the vibrant bright blue; it's much nicer than the more subtle shades of blue that I usually see on clothes. It was a very reasonable price at only $29.95; I'm even thinking of buying it in white. I can't get enough of my new top; I want to wear it everyday at the moment. This top is much more unique, beautiful and girly than I would have expected to find in a regular store in my local shopping centre. It' reminds me of something I'd buy from Modcloth or an equivilant online store overseas.

Black & White Ball

IMG_2021 Today I will leave you with a few pictures from my weekend.  On Saturday night I attended a 'black and white' formal event which was a fundraiser. I love these sorts of occassions; I have so many formal dresses but never enough chances to wear them. The dressing up associated is always my favourite part and makes me feel excited and generally positive. I had a few options for the black and white theme but in the end I decided to wear my Jouls Couture 1950s inspired dress. I know you can't really see much of it from the photos but it is the same dress I wore here. I always find it annoying that I never get any proper outfit pictures when I am at a formal event. It is always when I am dressed up the most but the opportunity never arises. Oh well. One day I will get to show you all my nice pretty dresses. The black and white theme was fun; it was really interesting to see everyone dressed in the same colours though. For once, my hair is different! My mother in law curled it for me which I was very pleased about. I am happy with the way it turned out. She did it with rollers. I wish it was easier and less time consuming because then I would have curly hair much more often. I'd probably do it a few times a week (I'm desperately looking for alternatives to straightening my hair every single day). The hair curling was kind of like a practice for the wedding. I want my hair out and curly for the wedding and, even though the wedding venue is going to be doing my hair, I was worried that it wouldn't work. My hair is just so rebellious and I've had so many failed attempts in the past. So hopefully I am on track to having curly wedding hair.  In other news, it is the start of spring!
